Win Gone by Lisa McMann over at The Book Resort

OPEN YOUR EYES
Janie thought she knew what her future held. And she thought she'd made her peace with it. But she can't handle dragging Cabel down with her.She knows he will stay with her, despite what she sees in his dreams. He's amazing. And she's a train wreck. Janie sees only one way to give him the life he deserves--she has to disappear. And it's going to kill them both. Then a stranger enters her life--and everything unravels. The future Janie once faced now has an ominous twist, and her choices are more dire than she'd ever thought possible. She alone must decide between the lesser of two evils. And time is running out...He reaches toward her, his fingers black and bloody, his eyes deranged, unblinking. Janie is paralyzed. His cold hands reach around her neck, squeezing tight, tighter, until Janie has no breath left. She's unable to move, unable to think. As his grasp tightens further around Janie's neck, his face turns sickly alabaster. He strains harder and begins to shake.Janie is dying. She has no fight left in her. It's over.

WOW

Yesterday was amazing. I got so many great presents and had a lot of fun with my family. I can't believe some of the stuff I got. I wish we had snow though. I don't remember the last time we didn't have snow for Christmas. Oh well, it was still a great day.

I had a hard time sleeping so I was pretty tired yesterday but that didn't stop me from enjoying my day. I got up and spent a few hours with my mom and her boyfriend and around 11:30am I went over to my dads to open presents and spend a few hours with him. I got back to my moms around 3pm to help clean up a bit before my nanny and poppa got there. They showed up around 4pm and we opened some more presents, ate, opened even more presents. I'm not sure what time they left at but once they were gone I had to go back to my dads because he said he wanted to spend a few more hours with me. Turned out he had one more big present for me, which ended up being a nice big TV. After opening it, we got it all set up and lost track of time watching my new DVDs. I ended up spending the night and am still here.

Some of the things I got:

TV (32 inch)
Home Theater System
All six seasons of The L Word
DVDs (Night Watch, Twilight, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Stomp The Yard, Master and Commander, Killer Movie, The Black Dahlia, Wages of Sin, The Lost Boys, The Lost Boys 2: The Tribe, Mortuary, Memory and Bloody Mary)
CDs (Tegan and Sara: If It Was You, Marilyn Manson: Eat me Drink me, Slipknot: All Hope Is Gone and Epica: Design Your Universe)
Books: (13 of them...I will list them later)
Jacob Black Puzzle
A Snuggie
A Slipknot Tshirt
New Converse

There is a lot more.

I also caught something at some point. I am really sick today but I'll live. My ipod might not though. lol I am ready to smash it. For some reason it wont let me put my new cds on it. Dumb thing. Anyways, I had a great Christmas and I hope everyone else did too.

PS: I found out a few days ago that I won Explorer X-Alpha over at Wicked Good Books. I can't wait to read it. I am so excited. I never win anything.

Explorer X - Alpha Contest!

Summary: For most kids, a trip to space camp is a trip of a lifetime, for Aadi it was life altering. After receiving a camp immunization needed for travel to Mars, Aadi finds that the immunization is the catalyst of an insidious experiment. Lucky for him, he was engineered to survive, thrive, and dominate. Without realizing he is being trained to conquer worlds, and manipulated under the guise of a camp, he unfolds the plot too late for a change of fate. Aadi’s world is shaken upon the revelation that life before camp was not what it appeared. This solidifies his plan to save them all from the company that seeks to control him, only for his rescue to end abruptly due to a freak accident on a field trip to Mars. The full experiment is set in motion when he and his co-pilot, Eirena, crash in a distant galaxy called Shrenas, where they change and realize the full extent of their power. Holding onto his humanity, in the midst of turning into a god is Aadi's biggest battle yet. This turn of events causes him to put his childish thoughts away, forcing him to accept his change, and to decide to save a world, or to do what he was trained to do, dominate it. In the midst his struggles with his changes, his power is coveted by the warring leaders of Shrenas, and he is forced to choose sides to save a life, or to save himself. A decision that may prove just how much humanity he has left.

The 2010 Debut Author Challenge

Taken from TheStorySiren.com:

What is the 2010 Debut Author Challenge?
The objective is to read a set number of YA (Young Adult) or MG (Middle Grade) novels from debut authors published this year.* I'm going to challenge everyone to read at least 12 debut novels!
I’m hoping to read at least 30! You don’t have to list your choices right away, but if you do feel free to change them throughout the year. I will also be focusing on mostly Young Adult novels.

Anyone can join, you don’t need a blog to participate. If you don’t have a blog you can always share your views by posting a review on Amazon.com/BarnesandNoble.com/GoodReads/Shelfari, or any other bookish site.

The challenge will run from January 1, 2010- December 31, 2010. You can join at anytime!

* I would like to limit the novels to those released in 2010.

You’ll have to do all the research to make sure a novel meets the criteria for the challenge. I do have a few sites that can help with your search; 2010: A Book Odyssey/The Tenners, AuthorsNow & The Class of 2k10.

More Challenge Guidelines:

authors that have "adult" titles currently published but are debuting a YA/MG novel in 2010 can be included in your challenge lists. This goes for authors that have childrens books published as well.

novels must be read between the dates of January 1, 2010 - December 31, 2010 to count toward your challenge total. (this means if you've read a 2010 debut novel in 2009, it doesn't count..... but!)

reviews posted in 2010 will count toward the monthly prize packs, even if you read the novel in 2009. Does that make sense? For example I've read debut author Jennifer Hubbard's novel The Secret Year, in 2009. But I will not be posting my review until closer to its release date in 2010. So, even though it can't be counted as one of my "challenge" books, I could still use its review for a prize pack entry.

please do list the 2010 debut novels you've already read in your challenge lists. That way other participants can find out about a book they might not have otherwise.

For those Participants, not in the U.S.

the challenge is open to everyone.

you may have a debut title that has already been released in the U.S. that is fine! You do not have to make your challenge lists according to U.S. release dates.

all monthly prize packs are open to international residents.

If you want to join, click HERE for even more information!

My List (so far):

1. Nevermore by Kelly Creagh

2. Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

3. The Ghost and the Goth by Stacy Kade

4. The Secret Year by Jennifer Hubbard

5. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Is it Christmas yet?

I can't wait for Christmas. It's the one day during the year that my family gets together. Not to mention the new books. I know I wont be getting that many books but a few is still really good. My TBR pile is getting kind of small so Christmas couldn't come soon enough. Even though it did kind of sneak up on me this year. Seriously though, what is better than family and new books? I don't think there is anything better. Am I wrong?

I'm back....I hope.

I have read more today than I have all week. I just took a break to take a shower and do this. Once I'm done I will get back to my book. I can't seem to put Dark Visions by L.J. Smith down today. So here is hoping that I am over whatever it was that was keeping me from reading. I seriously don't know why I didn't feel up to it. I hope I will be finished at least Dark Visions before the end of this month. I should be able to do it. Wish me luck!

Am I Sick?

Why am I having such a hard time reading these days? I can only seem to get through a few pages an hour. Maybe I should just not read anything for the rest of the week and see what happens. I really don't like the thought of going even a day without reading but I don't know what else to do. It's not that the books I'm reading are boring, because they're not. I don't know what is going on with me...

I Need Books...

If you happen to have any books that you want to get rid of because you didn't like them, they are old or they are just taking up way too much space. Feel free to send those books to me. Seriously, I have a hard time getting books. We have a small library in town and I have read every book there that I am interested in and i am not that picky when it comes to books. The nearest bookstore is an hour away and even if there was one in town, I have no money and no way to make any due to health reasons. So maybe we can help each other out. You help me get books and I can help you get rid of books you don't want anymore so you can make room for some new ones. I love all types of books, but if you have any that are on my amazon wish list, that would be amazing.

Just send me an email at rae_reads@hotmail.com and let me know so I can give you my address.

If you do send me books, I just want you to know that I really appreciate it.

24 Hours of Reading!

So I heard about how people read for 24 hours straight and thought it sounded like a good challenge. In 2008 I decided to read 100 books in a year. I read over 100. In the beginning of 2009 I said I would read 50 books in a year. I have read 53 so far. It was a slow year for reading. I didn't have the money for books. So now I have challenged myself again. I will spend 24 hours reading. I am not sure when I will do it or any of the details yet. All I know is that it will happen after Christmas, as I will get some books then. Most likely sometime in Jan. I may even make this a once a month challenge. I think I can handle that. Read for 24 hours straight once a month. Actually it sounds like a lot of fun. It should be a little bit easier on my wallet too. I will update with the details as I decide them.
